Commentary: It is important to understand that numbers in the Bible are spiritual numbers. That means the numbers are not quantitative. In Matthew’s genealogy of the Son of Man (Jesus) 42 natural descending Mother generations are split into 14, 14, 14, which is also 7+7, 7+7, 7+7, which is also distilled to 77 77 77. Divine Equivocation, explained in the “Doctrine of the Cross,” tells us 42 is also 77, 77 and 77. These three numbers build the first three steps of the Mat 1:1-17 Cross above. In Luke 3:23-38 there are 77 supernatural ascending male Patriarchs for the Son of God counted from Jesus to God.
The four-double-seven cross originates in the spiritual creation when evening and morning generate 77 four times on the Genesis 1:1-2:4 Cross. (Cipher 1) The Old Testament continually regenerates this same 77 numbered cross with Noah’s flood, Abraham, Joseph and Israel’s rituals so that Israel could SEE once and forever their perfectly numbered Messiah. May God help them.
I counted 14 times in the 77 Bible Tour that the number 77 77 77 77 appears, where the generations of Jesus is only one of two occurrences in the NT. I am not sure that it’s legal to take 14 and make it 7+7 so it looks like the 77 Patriarchs in Luke. But I can see that number clearly formed in the generations of Revelation, the Flood and even Joseph. So I have this question. Does the same number for the generations of both Joseph and Jesus mean that Joseph is some-how the real Father of Jesus?
Thank you Marvin for your observation. You may notice in tour item #9 that Joseph appears on the Cross as God of thy Father, and then in tour item #10 on the Cross as God of thy Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and then in Tour item #11 as God of your Fathers twice of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. When Joseph is God of these important Patriarchs and it is written in both genealogies Joseph is the Father of Jesus it is easy to consider that Joseph is some-how the Father of Jesus.
As far as the funny numbers go, I shall make a post about Divine Equivocation that describes how God uses numbers in the Bible.
