Commentary: This twice daily offering of lambs is known as the continual burnt-offering, and was offered each morning and evening at the alter of the tabernacle. Each lamb had to be one year old, which is 6+6 months, the 66 number of a man who does not rise up on the lamb’s cross of four seasons. The Sabbath (Shabbat in Hebrew) is a day of holiness and rest observed on the seventh day of the week, when a one-year-old lamb was sacrificed in the morning and evening. The Sabbath began during the Israelites 40 years in the wilderness when they gathered manna in the morning and quail in the evening, so they would not be compelled to gather food on the seventh day of the week. The number 77 on the cross identifies the final sacrificial Lamb of God.
