Cipher 14. First Four Commandments. How to Relate to God (Ex 20:1-11)
1. WHO? (20:2) And God spoke all these words, saying, I am YHWH thy God
2. WHY be thankful? (20:2) who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of bondage.
3. HOW to worship? (20:3-6) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath.
4. WHAT not to do? (20:7) Thou shalt not take the name of YHWH thy God in vain;
5. WHEN? (20:8-10) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is a sabbath unto YHWH thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work
6. WHERE? (20:11) For in six days YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is,
7. WHICH path? (20:11) and rested the seventh day. Wherefore YHWH blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Commentary: The Ten Commandments are split into two parts. The lower six are instructions about how we are to relate to each other. However, the upper four are specific commandments about how we should relate to YHWH thy God—through the Cross. Thou shalt have no other God than YHWH written 6,876 times in this Bible, pronounced Yahweh. You should not make any graven image of God, because Scripture already forms a visible image of the Cross of YHWH God thousands of times. Jesus’ Witness Cipher illustrates this holy phenomenon 77 times. The simplicity of the salvation formula sums it up like this:
1—2—3—4th step result; remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy.
