Commentary: Malachi delivers the burden of the Word of YHWH with two primary messages. First YHWH chastised Israel’s priests for despising YHWH’s name and not performing His rituals as was instructed. However, Israel is chosen and spared from the last day of fire because they feared God, just as Abraham and Job feared God. The second message is about YHWH’s righteous Son that begins in Mal 1:6: A son honoreth his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a father, where is mine honor? and if I am a master, where is my fear? saith YHWH of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
Note: In v 4:2 the word “sun” was interpreted in this Bible to be the son who honors and serves the father. Righteousness cannot be attributed to the sun in the sky that honors and serves the father, unless one considers the sun arises in the morning, and Yeshua is named in Rev 22:16 The Morning Star.
The Cross of the Righteous Son is the introduction to the New Testament.
