Cipher 59. Justification By Faith Through Jesus Christ (Rom 5:15-18)
1. WHO? 5:15-16 The gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many. And not as through one that sinned, so is the gift:
2. WHY? 5:16 the judgment came of one unto condemnation,
3. HOW saved? 5:16 but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.
4. WHAT for? 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one, (Adam)
5. WHEN gift received? 5:17 much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign
6. WHERE is life? 5:17 in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.
7. WHICH way? 5:18 So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.
Commentary: According to Paul we cannot be justified before God with obedience to the law. Job learned that the righteousness God recognizes comes from another–not himself. (See ciphers 22-23) By faith through one act of sacrifice by Jesus Christ (Son of Man) on our behalf do we have justification for our free gift of righteousness, and salvation in Christ Jesus (Son of God). Paul emphasizes the word “through”, when speaking about righteousness from Jesus Christ, if even grace not as through one that sinned, or life through the one, even Jesus Christ, or even so through one act of righteousness the free gift.
