Cipher 65. John’s Witness of Three Agree in One Result (1 John 5:1-11)
1. WHO? (5:1) Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God: and whosoever loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2. WHY? (5:2) Hereby we know that we love the children of God, (on foot of cross)
3. HOW to love God? (5:3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments:
4. WHAT overcomes? (5:4-5) For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that hath overcome the world. And who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
5. WHEN? (5:6) This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood.
6. WHERE are the witnesses? (5:7-8) And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.
7. WHICH path? (5:9-11) The witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Commentary: See how John’s cross that begins with blood, water and spirit above relates to Paul’s cross that begins with body, soul and spirit in the previous cipher. There is blood from the body, water for the soul and spirit with the Holy Spirit. The Jewish ritual, Day of Atonement, requires blood from a bull and a goat to be sprinkled seven times each for the mercy seat, tent of meeting and alter. A cross with four double sevens is generated that defines the same numbered cross of Jesus Christ’s genealogy. (Cipher 16, 77-77-77-77) In John 3:4-5 Jesus taught entry into the Kingdom of God first requires three steps on the cross; One must be born in the flesh, born in the water and born in the spirit. (Cipher 42) So, John’s witness is blood from the flesh of the body, water for baptism of the soul and birth in the Holy Spirit through the cross to reach the 4th step result–eternal life with Jesus Christ.
