Commentary: Isaiah was writing about a future child to be born into the world described as a son with four titles that prophetically fit on a cross above. Through this cross a picture of the Son’s future activity and authority is introduced. Verse 9:9 tells us all the people shall know, even Ephraim. Jeremiah 31:9 tells us that Ephraim is God’s first-born. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born. (Cipher 9) Ephraim was adopted by Jacob (Israel) from Joseph as a first-born numbered 14, because he was then the 14th son of Jacob. Ephraim’s number 14 matches Jesus number 14, which appears three times in Jesus’ descending genealogy that begins the New Testament. (Mat 1:17) But 14 is also 7+7, which can be distilled to 77. In Jesus’ genealogy the fourth 77 on the cross defines 77 ascending Patriarchs to God. (Cipher 31) Therefore, Israel’s first-born Son of God has two more titles that are numbers—14 and/or 77.
